Developing a flower budget is one of the biggest challenges when planning the cost of your wedding. This is generally due to the fact of little or no experience of purchasing flowers, especially for such a significant event. In order to plan your wedding budget, you need to be aware of several variables, which will affect your pricing.
 

1) The varieties of flowers selected. The more common and in season, the lower the price. The more exotic, fragile and/or limited the availability, the higher the price.  SAVE MONEY by choosing feature flowers that are in season. Callas in November? Tulips in July? Due to travel distance and seasonality, however, the best values are those varieties found in abundance at the time of your wedding. Summer, the most plentiful season, presents garden roses, lisianthus, stock, larkspur and a host of abundant varieties. 2) The quantities of flowers needed. The larger your wedding party (Bridesmaids, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc…) and/or guests attending (for table centerpieces) the more flowers needed, therefore a higher budget. A few places to SAVE would be in the ceremony area – maybe by selecting a few, larger and more memorable floral statements instead of 2 smaller designs, 4 candelabra decorations and 12 modest aisle flower bouquets. The larger arrangements will be seen from the back of the ceremony area, will show nicely in your photographs and can easily be transported for use during the reception.  At the reception, the two focal areas are the head table/sweetheart table and the cake area. Focusing the décor there will give maximum visual effect for your photography.

3) The amount of specific flowers. By requesting non-specific dark red roses – instead of requiring your florist to guarantee ‘Black Magic’ roses will save you paying top dollar prices. The effect will be very similar. Allow flexibility in your décor flower selection, this too will prove cost effective.  4) The amount of time and skill the various designs take to create. Simple designs require less time while more elaborate compositions or those with exquisite details will take significantly longer to craft, therefore you will have a more labor-intensive pricing structure. By choosing one or two featured flower varieties or ‘themes,’ your bouquets and décor will achieve a unified appearance and enable us to fully utilize these blossoms throughout the wedding, allowing for  cost effective savings when budgeting.

5) The level of service and convenience. Ms. Scarlett's Flowers offers services such as delivery, set-up of ceremony and reception décor, transportation of flowers from the ceremony area to the reception area, pick-up of rental equipment and more. Each level of service is priced separately. For smaller-scale weddings, having a friend pick up and deliver your flowers to your location will save you the expense of delivery. Friends can also be available to transport ceremony flowers to the reception and return rental equipment. We do strongly recommend you enlist help from friends – this is your special day and the added stress of trying to complete too many tasks yourself should be avoided.
